HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed at Osmania University today with a group of students staging a protest demanding postponement of MCA and M Ed examinations. The university authorities, however, made it clear that MCA and M Ed examinations would not be postponed. The examinations are scheduled to be held from December 27.
Students of various professional colleges tried to storm the OU administrative building demanding postponement of examinations. They want the examinations to be put off till the students arrested during the Telangana agitation were released. The university authorities have recently put on hold the M.Sc, M.Com and MA exams bowing to the pressure from the students."A group of students have tried to create trouble yesterday also.
In view of this we have sought police protection and the students who tried to storm the building today were prevented by the police,'' a OU official said.Though the vicechancellor Prof T Tirupathi Rao was not present when the protest was made, the other senior authorities discussed with the agitating students and made it clear that the examinations would not be postponed.
Meanwhile, the OU Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) clarified that none of their leaders or activists were behind the protests.
